Net2 integrates with additional Thermal Scanners to help make buildings more COVID-secure

28th October 2020- Brighton

Our teams have been developing solutions and publishing information throughout this year which aim to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus on sites installed with Net2.

Whilst researching relevant updates to give Net2 greater functionality against the current pandemic, we established that thermal scanning upon entry to a site, or designated area, would be highly beneficial. As global scientific evidence suggests, one of the most common symptoms of the virus is a fever with a temperature above 37.8C.

Using thermal scanning alone does not fully address government guidelines. However, by utilising thermal scanning in combination with access control, sites can further reduce a buildings risk by denying access to people with a heightened temperature.

The thermal scanning integrations with Net2 work instantaneously when a user presents their physical token. Their temperature is then taken simultaneously by a thermal camera. Access is permitted if their temperature is in the acceptable range and their token is valid. If a valid token is presented but their temperature is too high, then their access is denied.

This process takes less than a second and works in conjunction with the new series of COVID-secure feature updates we have developed and released throughout this year.

These are Occupancy Management, Flexible Access Permissions and Checkpoint Control
When all these elements are combined, a system administrator can set up designated checkpoints to manage the flow of people and reduce overcrowding as well as maintain social distancing.

Monitoring and approving an individual’s well-being and risk can be achieved by a manual or automated validation. Checkpoints with thermal scanning detection can also be set up in multiple areas across a site and managed remotely.

Manufacturers that have currently had their thermal scanning integrations approved to work with Net2 include:

– Dahua Thermal Temperature Station
– Hikvision Face Recognition Terminal (Minmoe)
– ZK Teco SpeedFace Reader
– Suprema Facestation 2
– FDP- 3000 Thermi-Scan Reader
– Genie WIP2FRTMTP

To find out more about integrating a thermal scanner with Net2, you can watch our online video Net2 Tutorials – Thermal Cameras Integration. You can also find out more information by looking at the Net2 Integrations page on our website.

Alongside this video, to support our installers with their installations and implementation of the Net2 COVID-secure solutions, we have introduced a range of short Net2 tutorial videos that can be watched on the new COVID-resources area of our website. This is a great starting place for installers and end-users to identify the steps that are applicable to their specific site.
